Jewelry for christmas?

I am taking orders for Christmas now! If you want anything for you or for someone close to you, please let me know or you can order from my website or etsy shop. I would love to make something super special for you! If you don't see something you want, but have something in mind or a combination of something you see, I can probably make it, if it is in silver. Just let me know. Jewelry making: the process.

I think one of my favorite parts of making jewelry is actually the tools that I get to use. I am a tool lover. I have always liked them ever since I was little. I am what you would probably call a tool horder. I love finding that perfect tool for every need. It just makes me happy. The tools in the pictures above have been collected & used for making jewelry for the past 15 years & my plan is to make them last for the next 50 years. Each tool has a purpose & this process of making jewelry couldn't be done without each & every one of them.

Jewelry making: the process.

I wanted to share a bit of the process with you. I actually think this is going to be a new category that I come back to often. I like the idea of sharing & capturing & remembering how this whole jewelry process, that I love so much is done.

I found a cool app on my iPhone for self-timer photos, called timercam, which worked perfect. & since the only people home, were 4 years old or younger, that wasn't going to make for the best photo of what I was actually trying to capture.

Ok, back at it. I was making a ring here. Rings are one of those things that doesn't require too many steps,  at least the ring I was making, which is this one, but no matter how many steps it takes to get from nothing to something, I love this process. I love starting with raw materials, in this case silver & making something wearable. Something for someone, who hopefully will wear & enjoy it for a very long time!

Shop update. Home Sweet Home.

I have been working on updating my etsy shop lately. & I have made some new things too. Getting ready for lots of fun events  & markets coming up in the fall months. I love this time of year, it really is my favorite time of year.

I am doing a market at my friends house next week & so if you live in the Phoenix area you should for sure check it out. I will be taking custom orders for the upcoming holidays & I will also have a bunch of new pieces ready to sell.

My sister, Emily will also be selling her AWESOME SIGNS at it. sweet.

Jewelry stuff...

I have been working on some new designs lately for some up coming events, like SPARK. I am so excited for SPARK. I also have been updating my etsy shop a lot lately & have some new items in there, so if you haven't checked it out lately, you should. :).

All of these pieces shown above are all custom pieces for people or for SPARK that I have done lately, but I have also added some of them to my etsy shop, so others can buy them too. Making custom stuff is for sure my favorite & always helps get my creative juices flowing for new ideas. (which of course is a good thing).

I have spent most of yesterday updating & working on my etsy shop. I love the feeling of having all of these new pieces of jewelry in their ready to ship. That's right, READY TO SHIP. My friend Heidi Swapp did the keynote speach at Creative Escape this past weekend. & what she spoke on was why it is so important to document the everyday. Why it is worth it. Why we should believe that this life is worth remembering. It really hit me what she was saying, that we really do need to remember these moments in our daily lives. That we need to document them. I made this jewelry to help remind me & you that it is important. That it is worth it. That we need to believe the everyday is something worth remembering.

I can't thank Heidi enough for sharing with us why she thinks it's important. It really did make me stop & think & want to be better about documenting the everyday.

Button ring.

I made this ring recently for a friend of mine as a custom order. It is silver, with just a touch of gold, as the "thread" that goes through the button holes. I love how it turned out, so organic & free form feeling. I love that she new exactly what she wanted, but let me take the creative freedom on how it would look over all. She was inspired by a ring her daughter wears everyday. I can't tell you how much I love making custom pieces for people, it really is what keeps me always wanting to make jewelry.

My whole heart necklace.

I just finished making this new necklace a few days ago. I am actually in love with it. I want it to be mine, sadly for me, it is for someone else, so I will have to make another one for myself.

How cool though, if you put your kids names around the circle? or on the back? with the saying on the front? I could totally do that. email me, we can talk about it. Or check it out in my etsy shop.

I love coming up with new designs. It just makes me happy. I hope the people that buy my jewelry are happy wearing it too.

Mama Market.
